Residence for Mr. Aswar & Family

Canopy Court

Designed on a narrow, elongated plot facing the road, this home for Mr. Aswar and his family is a study in how much comfort a linear site can hold when the planning is done right. On the ground floor, the master bedroom and a second bedroom sit privately to one side, while the kitchen, dining and living spaces flow openly along the spine of the house — connected to a generous foyer and a landscaped garden strip that softens the transition from the car porch to the front door.

Climbing up, the first floor opens into two distinct family living pockets set around the staircase, spilling out onto a large open-to-sky terrace with a mature tree at its heart — a quiet, green lung right in the middle of the house. The master suite up here comes with its own dressing area, attached bath and private balcony, giving the family a proper retreat away from the shared spaces below.

Externally, the house speaks in a very grounded material palette — random rubble stone cladding at the base, a brick volume wrapped in creeping greenery over a timber trellis above, warm timber doors, and slim steel balustrades holding it all together. Large glazed openings keep the interiors bright and airy throughout the day, while by night the home takes on a completely different, more intimate character with its warm lighting.

A home that is compact in footprint, but does not feel small for a single day inside it.
